To use a custom icon for a device, edit that device and press the icon button to display the icon list. Then paste your icon into the list using the Paste command in the Edit menu. To prepare an icon for pasting, you can use the Finder, Resorcerer or ResEdit.

To copy it from any item in the Finder, select the item, use the File menu's Get Info command, select the icon and copy.
